I know I am not the first or only person to say this this holiday season and it has been said by many every Christmas time since 1987 but I still need to acknowledge Fairytale of New York by The Pouges as one of the best Christmas songs ever.
If you aren’t on of my Northport High School Choir peeps, this post has very little meaning. If you are, read on.
In light of the upcoming NHS Winter Concert, the resurrected alumni performance and the associated radical spliter group of disgrunted Alumni and thier rennage performance, I thought it might be nice to make recordings of the traditionals available for listening or download. If you are going to attend the concert, use them to practice. If you aren’t, then listen to them and be there is spirit.
All of the following are taken from various recordings during my time in the Choir. (1987-1990)
I think the following was made a traditional during my sophomore year (1987-1988).
Choir Fags unite!
Oh fuck yes!
Billy and the Boingers – I’m a Boinger
Billy and the Boingers – U Stink But I Love U
listening to the Doom – Police Bastard 7″ at the loudest possible volume.
Here are some tunes for you to listen to whilst at work. Maybe you will get fired. That would be funny.
Boris the Sprinkler – Drugs and Masturbation - This version is the 7″ version. The Intro sermon by the Reverend Norb is much better than on the Album cut. I wish I had the lyrics handy. An buy handy I mean I wish the 7″ wasn’t all the way in the living room.
High Tension Wires – Gellette Napoleon – Fucking awsome Texas Punk Rock. I could easily leave this song on repeat for a few hours and not get bored.
Mochipet – PolkaElectronicDeathCountry – This song rules, fucking RULES, I tell you!
Mr. Right & Mr. Wrong – Victoria – Essentially, this is NoMeansNo doing a great cover of The Fall song of the same name.
Man is the Bastard – Gourmet Pez – Power Violence legends Man is The Bastard are one of my favorite bands of all time. In My opinion, this is one of the best songs of the entire MitB catalog.
“all your money, will it by you love?
I say fuck your money, give us gourmet pez.
all your money, will it buy you peace?
I say fuck your money, we want gourmet pez.”
Button*Masher – Egomaniac – Inspired by (and partially performed using) video game samples, Button*Masher defy you to classify them into a genre.
SUB|HUM|ANS – Religious Wars – This is a great live track of the resurrected SUB|HUM|ANS from around 2008 (I believe).
Be Your own PET – Stairway to Heaven – with the exception of the bit at the beginning, this is not a cover song of “that which will not be played”.
Artless – Beer is Better Than Girls Are – If you walk away from this song bent out of shape by the sexist lyrics then you have no sense of humor and I don’t like you.
